UPS/IBT Safety & Health Committees

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This is to inform you that Teamsters Local Union #71 will NO longer participate in the UPS/IBT Safety and Health Committees for Package Car Drivers (ONLY). This is in direct response and protest to the company's recent implementation of the 70 Hour Workweek for package car drivers. We feel the company's action makes a mockery of the entire purpose of said Committee and we can no longer in good conscience support or participate in such a farce. The company has once again confirmed that "safety" is only important when it's a matter of convenience.
We insist that EVERY package car driver currently serving in any capacity on the UPS/IBT Safety and Health Committee cease and desist participation in ANY and ALL programs, effective immediately!
Any package car driver/member who refuses to abide by this notice, will no longer be approved by the Local Union and will be removed from the UPS/IBT Safety and Health Committee as per the contract.
Fraternally Yours,
Joe Eason, President, Teamsters Local #71
